Jesus Now and To Come
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever
Hebrews 13:8 (CSB)
People attempt to separate Jesus’ life into various segments. They want to consider what Christ did, what Christ is doing, and what Christ will do. The Bible is clear that Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. As we have seen from John 1, Christ has always been. As we have observed in places like Acts 7, Jesus is ever working. As we see in the Book of Revelation, he will forever work.
JESUS YESTERDAY
Jesus was present at creation. In fact, He was instrumental in the act of creation. In the New Testament, we find Christ arriving to fulfill the prophecy found in the Old Testament and working in the lives of the early believers. His work on the cross demonstrated His great love for us and His desire to be reconciled with us. Jesus was with them in the days of old, and He is with us today.
JESUS TODAY
Jesus continues to work in the lives of people today. The agent of creation is also the agent of recreation through people’s faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He empowers His people by providing strength and endurance for the tasks ahead. The love of God remains evident through the message of the gospel, the offer of salvation, and the act of redemption. Christ continues to work in the lives of His children.
JESUS FOREVER
Jesus is eternal and will live forever. He offers the opportunity to live with Him eternally through a faith-based relationship. The agent of salvation guarantees the reality of eternal life, and this assurance comes because He personally paid the debt's price. The love of God remains constant throughout eternity, as love is an essential part of His character. Therefore, Christ's demonstration of love on the cross reveals the profound depth of His love for His own, which will be eternal in nature. Just as yesterday and today, Jesus will be with His own forever.
