Dear Believer, ENGAGE with the GOSPEL
As believers, we must learn to engage others with the Gospel. Engagement occurs as a part of our daily life and activities. Every part of our life must seek to serve the Lord in faithfulness and to make His great name known. The heartbeat of the Christian centers on seeking the leading of the Lord and fulfilling His calling of making disciples to the ends of the earth. As a result, we must learn to ENGAGE with the gospel.
As we explore where God is working and leading and as we desire to meet people's physical and emotional needs to meet their most profound and greatest spiritual needs, we find that the Gospel is the motivation and the solution. Thus, we set our desires, hearts, and minds on serving the Lord and declaring the Gospel because we understand that eternity is at stake. We know that a difference exists between good activities and God activities. The separating nature is the Gospel.
We must understand the difference between good and God activities. You may sit at the corner of the street on a hot day, delivering water to the thirsty. This activity is not a bad activity. It meets the needs of those who thirst on a hot day. Yet, when this task is performed to meet a need and/or make the self feel good about helping, this activity is good. Yet, if you stand on the street corner handing out water to the thirsty to share about living water that meets a spiritual thirst, you participate in a God activity. The difference between the two is the Gospel.
In the most basic form, the Gospel is the declaration of one's sinful state that separates the individual from the Lord, the work of Jesus on the cross, the victory of Christ in the resurrection, the promise of God concerning those who are redeemed, and the available gift to receive by faith. At the same time, this message must include the invitation to follow Jesus. The Gospel is not information alone but a charge and an invitation to come and receive. When we engage, our hearts must be set on making Christ known.
As we strive to ENGAGE as believers, may we set our hearts and minds to EXPLORE where God is at work. As we see the work of the Lord and receive His calling, may we strive to meet the physical and emotional NEEDS of people to share with them the cure for their great spiritual needs. The ability to meet their spiritual needs rests in the proclamation and sharing of the GOSPEL. Yes, we do this as the Body of Christ by ASSISTING one another in the work, making a commitment to GROW spiritually, and participating in EVANGELISM. How can you seek to make the GOSPEL center of all you do?
