The All-Knowing Father
Before a word is on my tongue, You know all about it, Lord.
Psalm 139:4(CSB)
God is omniscient. Omniscience refers to the state of having complete knowledge. In fact, God alone is omniscient, as no one and nothing else possesses all knowledge. Living in a technological era and witnessing the rise of AI means we are experiencing a time when information is at an all-time high. At times, it may seem that technology and AI can answer every question. In reality, all technology and AI are limited by the inputs and algorithms created by humanity. God is not reliant on them; He is all-knowing, and there is nothing—past, present, or future—that He does not already know.
God knows all that has occurred. The study of history exists to help us understand past events that can provide information to help us navigate the present and the future. Yet, we live in a time that attempts to rewrite the truth of the past. God does not rewrite history because He knows all the facts and truths of the past. He knows every detail of the past we attempt to discover or revise. Nothing in the past occurred without the Lord knowing.
God knows everything that is happening. We live in a world that provides more instant access to events than ever before. Yet, we remain limited by what we are informed about through reports or opinions. We do not know the intentions or the condition of the hearts of those participating or reporting. The Father does not depend on opinions or reports. He knows the heart of every participant in the event and understands the details we may never learn. The Father is aware of all that occurs as it unfolds. In fact, He knows everything before it happens.
God knows all that will occur. The Father has perfect and complete foreknowledge of all that occurs. We can look to Scripture and see how He used the prophets to speak of what would occur with the coming of Christ and then find that the prophecies were completely fulfilled. At the same time, we can look to the Book of Revelation and see that the Father has told again all that will occur as the end draws near. The Father alone can do this because He is all-knowing.
