The Protective Nature of the Word

I have treasured your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you.

Psalm 119:11(CSB)

Scripture has a protective quality. Each person faces various moments of temptation that often try to lead us into disobedience by exploiting our weaknesses, desires, and emotions. The Word of God offers the essential truth needed to stay strong during times of temptation and trial.

Scripture offers a protective strength to stand in faith. When we engage with the Word and seek to know it authentically, we gain the strength to stand in obedience. The deeper we dive into Scripture, the more we cultivate our relationship with the Lord, and the greater strength we acquire in our walk with Him. The Word safeguards us by providing the strength necessary for our journey with the Lord.

Scripture offers a protective nature by revealing the truth to speak. The Word of God embodies truth. As the embodiment of truth, Scripture enables us to discern what is true and what is false. By revealing the truth, Scripture provides us with the foundation to live our lives and the truths we should declare. The truths we declare must stem from God’s Word and should never be merely opinion. We proclaim truth to lead people to repentance and to inspire them to live faithfully. The Lord protects us by imparting truth, allowing us to seek repentance when necessary, articulate truth when called to, and live faithfully each day.

Scripture provides a protective nature by sharing real-life examples. It helps protect believers in following the Lord by offering real-life illustrations of living in truth through the individuals we encounter in the Word. These individuals exemplify a life of faithfulness and encourage us to trust in the Lord and His work in our lives. Scripture protects us by reminding us of the Lord's past work and challenges us to recognize His protective influence today.
